Our purpose and objectives

Following a visit to Denmark and talking to people from many parts of the Pacific came an idea to hold a New Year's Eve party in Cornwall, UK for Pacific Islanders. As we are so far away from home why not see each other periodically and form a group embracing all Pacific Islanders living in Europe to enable us to gather together from time to time. The feeling was very strong that the cultures, traditions and skills of Pacific Islanders living in Europe be both maintained and passed on to our future generations.

Mission Statement

To promote the interests of our organisation and our Members to the community.

To create a greater awareness and understanding of Pacific Island cultures in the European communities.

At the New Year's Eve party came the suggestion of holding a gathering in the summer to coincide with the 28th Anniversary of the Independence of Kiribati. It was agreed to form a group with a name representative of the Pacific Islands. Thus the 'MMP Group' standing for Micronesia, Melanesia & Polynesia was created. The purpose of the MMP Group is to provide open membership to anyone wishing to join.

The Group welcomes anyone with an interest in the Pacific Islands region whether born there or elsewhere.

The main objective of the Group is to ensure that the cultures, traditions and skills of Pacific Islanders living in Europe be both maintained and passed on from generation to generation.

Who can join?

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in or connections with the Pacific Region, both past and present
